Shamanic Journey: What it is, How to Do it & Why You Should

Shamanic Journey

INSIDE: Wondering what a shamanic journey is? Learn how it works, some tools to make it easier, and what it can do for you right here! Are you ready to take this step in your awakening?

As you may know, I’ve been practicing shamanic journeying for 25+ years. It has been a wonderful experience and never ceases to bring new discoveries.

I learned this practice after having a spiritual experience on a piece of land where I built my house back in 1989. Shamanic journeying has brought me much learning and abounding experiences.

And it can do the same for you.

How a Shamanic Journey Works

Shamans, the spiritual healers of indigenous cultures from all over the world, are privy to great wisdom. This is because they know creation, and all answers are found in the unseen realms.

These realms are accessed through an altered state of consciousness, just like when we are falling asleep and waking (lucid dreaming), the Alpha and Theta brain wave states.

Shamanic Journey Tools

Many times, the help of a drumbeat or other sounds are used during a shamanic journey to induce us into this state. The steady, rhythmic sound begins the opening to expand our consciousness and bring us back again.

This is where we can access the power of the sacred into our lives, in order to manifest many things – healing work, dormant information, connection to the spirit realm, and more.

The Keys to Journeywork: Intention & Imagination

All shamanic journeys start with an intention and imagination. Shamans feel there is no difference between reality and imagination.

Just as when you set off in the car, you have an intention of where you will go. It’s the same for journeywork - knowing what you want, who you want to meet, where you want to go, is the beginning.

As I have been taught, a good place to begin is at “start” - like in a board game. The “start” I’m speaking of is setting up a sacred garden, where many things become possible.

Some people are able to access this inner doorway easily, and for others, it takes a bit of practice. From this point, you may begin your shamanic journey.

A Resource for You

I have recorded a 15-minute drumming and sound of the Aboriginal didgeridoo to begin the journey process.

Be on the look out for more information regarding Shamanic journeywork in future blogs. It’s exciting work that I hope you’ll take the time to explore.
